From Hobby to a Career in Wrapping
The interest in cars started early. Growing up close in age to a sibling with the same passion meant spending time riding four-wheelers and admiring model truck collections. Creativity first found an outlet in 2020 through small craft projects using a Cricut machine, where designing and customizing items became a favorite activity.
The turning point came after a frustrating experience at a shop that failed multiple times to properly wrap a set of mirrors. Instead of returning again, the decision was made to try it independently. After ordering materials online and completing the job, a deeper passion for the wrapping industry was sparked though at the time, turning it into a career did not seem realistic.
A Creative Escape
Vinyl wrapping stands out from other automotive trades because it does not feel like traditional work. It offers a balance of creativity and problem-solving, with each project bringing something new. Unlike many other roles in the automotive field, it is also generally cleaner, which adds to its appeal.
The ability to transform a vehicle and see a finished result provides a strong sense of satisfaction that keeps the work engaging.
Creativity Beyond the Workshop
Creative development continues outside of the workshop through content creation. Filming and editing videos for social media not only fuels creativity but also serves as a way to review techniques and improve efficiency. Watching previous work often reveals better methods and new ideas.
Entering the Industry
The path into the wrapping industry was not immediate. With a background in culinary arts and experience working as a kitchen manager, changing careers felt like a risk. However, after two years, it became clear that the previous career path was not fulfilling.
In 2022, the decision was made to pursue wrapping professionally. An entry-level position at a shop provided the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and begin building a career in the industry.
Challenges and Milestones
One of the most challenging and rewarding projects was wrapping a McLaren. It was the first high-end vehicle handled, bringing increased pressure and expectations. The vehicle’s wide body gaps and complex shapes required precision and full coverage in every detail. Despite the difficulty, the final result was highly successful and marked a significant milestone in professional growth.
Key Skills for Success
Patience is the most important skill for anyone entering the vinyl wrapping industry. The work is highly detail-oriented, especially during the learning phase. Being open to constructive feedback and knowing when to ask for help are equally important.
Much of the expertise developed over time has come from collaboration with colleagues and a willingness to learn from others’ experience.
Looking Ahead
Over the next five years, the goal is to continue growing within the current shop, Sprayless, while also expanding a presence on social media. Representation plays an important role, particularly in encouraging more women to explore the industry and recognize that it is both accessible and welcoming.
There is also a strong interest in building new industry connections and continuing to develop professionally.
New Techniques and Future Development
Looking ahead, there is a desire to expand skills by working with wet-apply PPF as well as dry-apply colored PPF. These areas represent exciting opportunities for both technical growth and service expansion.

When it comes to materials, Avery Dennison stands out as the preferred choice due to its reliability and ease of application. The material consistently performs well and delivers dependable results. While 3M products are also used, they can sometimes feel more brittle in comparison.
Several tools have made a significant difference in both quality and efficiency. A backing cutter is essential, particularly when handling larger materials, and high-quality Olfa blades are considered a worthwhile investment.
Among the more specialized tools, the Sievert Pro 5 torch has proven to be a standout. Its internal components eliminate common issues such as loosening or breakage, allowing for uninterrupted workflow. The ergonomic design also improves handling and comfort during use.
Another valuable addition is the Soolla bag, originally designed for artistic tools such as pottery. Its multiple compartments make it ideal for organizing wrapping tools, and its machine-washable design adds practical convenience. It is a tool that more installers are expected to adopt in the future.
