Pressure Regulation Devices
A pressure regulation device (regulator) is an essential component used in torch systems to control and maintain a steady pressure level, ensuring optimal performance and safety. When using a torch system, the pressure regulation device helps to deliver a consistent flame by managing the flow of gas from the cylinder to the torch.
The pressure regulation device (regulator) will also contribute to savings in gas. If you are using a burner with a recommended pressure of 4 bar (58 PSI) and do not use a pressure regulation device, the pressure delivered from the propane cylinder will be higher than required, meaning you are using more gas than necessary to operate the burner at peak performance.
The HFV (Hose Failure Valve) is a safety feature designed to automatically shut off the gas supply in the event of a hose rupture or major gas leak, ensuring the safety of the user and the surrounding environment. It helps to prevent potential hazards by stopping the flow of gas if the hose is damaged.
LTS (Leak Test System) is a built-in safety feature. It shuts off gas flow as soon as it detects the smallest leak. Compared to HFV (Hose Failure Valve), the LTS (Leak Test System) is recommended when working in areas such as below ground where a gas leak can accumulate and pose a fire / explosion hazard.
Typically, a pressure regulation device has two different ends.
One end attaches to the propane hose while the other attaches to the cylinder. You should always check the cylinder connection first and choose a pressure regulation device starting from that end to build your torch system accordingly.
